The Best Hamburger Steak With Gravy
Hamburger Steak and Gravy is natural southern consolation food at it’s greatest!
once I consider southern consolation meals, the first component that comes to mind is hamburger steak and gravy with mashed potatoes. i've visible this meal known as Salisbury Steak and gravy as nicely. i was curious as to what the difference became so I looked it up.
INGREDIENTS:
For the hamburger patties:
- 2 tsp Worcestershire
- 2 lbs 80/20 ground chuck
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 cup seasoned bread crumbs
- 2 tsp dry mustard
- 1 cube beef bouillon, crumbled with a sharp knife and careful fingers ;-)
- Vegetable Oil for frying (about 2 Tbsp)
- 1 Tbsp ketchup
- 1/2 tsp salt
For the gravy:
- 1 TBSP garlic, minced
- 2 onions thinly sliced
- 1 tsp kitchen bouquet
- 2 tsp Worcestershire
- 1 TBSP ketchup
- 1 quart of beef broth (you will have to eyeball this. You will probably not need this whole amount)
- 2 TBSP all purpose flour
INSTRUCTIONS:
- integrate hamburger patty ingredients and mix thoroughly until blended
- Divide into 8 hamburger patties. i love to make them thin to make them less difficult to prepare dinner through.
- upload oil to a skillet and prepare dinner over medium high heat until each facets are well browned.
- do away with the meat from the pan and reserve 2 Tbsp oil in pan.
- upload the onions and prepare dinner for several mins until very gentle, stirring every now and then.
- next, add the minced garlic, stirring continuously for 1 minute.
- Then add in 2 Tbsp flour and whisk continuously for 1 minute or till it starts offevolved to turn gently brown and the flour is blended.
- Now add in 2 cups of the pork broth, the Worcestershire, ketchup and kitchen bouquet.
- preserve whisking for a minute then add the hamburger steaks lower back to the pan.
- cowl and simmer on medium/low for 20 mins, stirring from time to time and adding greater pork broth as needed if it gets too thick.
